Regional 4-H Beef Female Show

Date: June 9, 2019

Location: Central Alberta Agriculture Society Grounds Lacombe

Classes:

Cleaver Kids (Age 6 to 8 as of January 1, 2018) project calf – Conformation and Showmanship

For 4-H Members, aged 9 – 20 as of January 1, 2019.  Classes may be spit or combined, depending upon the number of entries.

Purebred Yearling Heifer (born in 2018)2.

Purebred Two Year Old (born in 2017) with Natural Calf at Foot

Purebred Three Year Old (born in 2016) with Natural Calf at Foot

Commercial Yearling Heifer (born in 2018)

Commercial Two Year Old (born in 2017) with Natural Calf at Foot

Commercial Three Year Old (born in 2016) with Natural Calf at Foot

Members are welcome to sign up at registration for the skill competitions - judging, marketing and team grooming.  Showmanship will be judged during conformation classes.

Tentative Schedule:
Saturday, June 8

Early arrival arrangements to be determined.  

Sunday, June 9

Arrival Registration:  8:00 am to 8:45 am – sign up for Judging, Marketing and Team Grooming skill competitions at this time
Competitions will start at 9:00 am.  The schedule will be available the morning of the show.

Lunch Break

Conformation Classes with Showmanship to be chosen from classes.

Members will be eligible to advance to the UFA Youth Supreme Quest and National Young Cattleman Program to be held in Bashaw in August.


Entry Fee:   

$40 per member – includes first project animal, snacks & lunch         

$15 for each additional projects (heifer or cow/calf pair)         

$20 per Cleaver Kid

 

Marketing

Junior, Intermediate and Senior 4-H members will have an opportunity to participate in the Marketing Skill competition at the Regional 4-H Beef Female Show.

Junior:

Junior members will create a thank you card to a show sponsor.

This will be created at the show.

All materials will be supplied.

Intermediate:

Market your project/projects out of the stall.

Bring with you an advertisement, flyer or poster promoting your project/projects & present to the judge while visiting with him/her at your stall.

Members must electronically produce this support material & bring completed to the show.

Senior:

Sell your project & or projects out of the stall to a prospective buyer.

No support material necessary.

Please come with impromptu style marking concepts ready to sell them to the Regional Female Show Marketing judge!

Camping is available on the grounds. Must be self-contained, no power available.


The Michener Park Campground is located near the Lacombe Golf Course on the west side of Lacombe.  You are responsible for making your reservation.

Volunteer tasks:
In order for the Regional 4-H Beef Female Show to be successful, we need some volunteers for various tasks.  Please indicate below if you are able to help in the following areas:

Sunday, June 9th

Set Up:

 Show Ring – props and sound system

Judging Class:

  Mark written reasons

  Hormel placings

Food:

  Help with breakfast – serving and clean up

  Help with setting out lunch

 Clean up after lunch

Clean up – after the show has concluded:

 Wash rack – clean

 Stalls – clean and remove manure

 Grounds – pick up garbage, tidy area

 Show Ring – clean-up
