Community Initiatives Program - Alberta Canada 150

Canada will celebrate its 150th anniversary of Confederation on July 1, 2017. Canada 150 presents a unique opportunity for Albertans to join all Canadians as we recognize this national milestone and anticipate our future together. The Community Initiatives Program’s (CIP) Alberta Canada 150 stream will provide $2 million to support projects that align with the four themes for the federal Canada 150 approach:
Diversity and inclusion, and the building of common interests and relationships;
Supporting efforts toward reconciliation of indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians;
Engaging and inspiring youth to carry forward the legacy of Canada 150; and
Connecting Canadians with nature and raising environmental stewardship to the level of national consciousness.
First Intake: January 15, 2017
Eligible organizations may include groups that are registered under one of the following:
Agriculture Societies Act
Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act
Cemeteries Act or Cemetery Companies Act
First Nations and Métis Settlements
Foundations established and regulated under the Regional Health Authorities Act
Income Tax Act of Canada and operating in the province of Alberta (Charities);
Part 9 of the Companies Act (nonprofit)
Part 21 of the Business Corporations Act - Extra-Provincial Corporations
Special Act of the Parliament of Canada
Special Act of the Alberta Legislature
Universities, colleges and institutes as defined under the Post-secondary Learning Act
Municipalities and municipally driven projects are not eligible for funding.
Alberta Canada 150 application
Applicants to fill out the Alberta Canada 150 application and Project Budget (Section F).
Alberta Canada 150 grant applications can be submitted by email, to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by mail, or in person at address below.
Mandatory attachments are required with application submission.
Final reporting is due 18 months after cheque date.

First intake: January 15, 2017
Final intake: October 15, 2017
Application deadline is the 15th of each month from January 2017 through October 2017.
Funding notifications will be provided within three months of monthly deadline application submitted.
Alberta Canada 150 projects must be completed before December 31, 2017.
A total of $2 million will be provided to eligible nonprofit organizations across Alberta.
Maximum funding available is $25,000 per project, per fiscal year.
Small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations.
- Training workshops will be available.
Organizations whose mandate supports at least one of the four federal themes for Canada 150.
Applicants will be required to provide a cash match of $150 for the project. Donated labour, materials, and equipment are not eligible as a part of the $150 match.
Project must demonstrate support of, at minimum, one of the four themes.
Project eligibility will be based on CIP Project-Based Program Guidelines with the following exceptions:
In fiscal 2017-18:
o Applicants are eligible to apply to both the Alberta Canada 150 stream and one of the CIP grant streams.
o Applicants can apply for Alberta Canada 150 funding for different projects, once in each fiscal year.
Projects that do not demonstrate any of the four themes.
Ineligible projects as listed in CIP Project-Based Program Guidelines.
Event- and celebration-related projects. Funding may be available through CIP Project-Based.
