Program Description:

Mountain View 4-H District is happy to, once again, host one of the Regional Livestock Judging competitions in conjunction with Olds College's Judge It day.

We’d like to draw your attention to several changes for this year. We are planning to have critiques prior to the judging starting, as we feel it is a valuable learning tool for the members. Critiques will begin at 8:30 am sharp in the arena. Any members who want to participate in the Olds College competition will not be allowed to listen to the critiques. We will endeavour to stick to our schedule listed below, and rotate through the judging stations in a timely and orderly way. Presently, we are planning on offering 10 classes for the kids to judge – 5 will be oral reason classes & 5 placings only classes. We are planning to be located in the arena only this year, with judging the classes in the morning and giving reasons after lunch.

Please make sure to bring the Olds College Judge It opportunity to your member’s attention. Members should consider participating; it’s a good challenge for them! The registration & information is included in this package.
Parent volunteers are also welcome to help us out on the day of. We need approx. 20 volunteers to help make the day run smoothly. Details of what we require help with are listed below.

Lastly, in order for us to be properly prepared for the day, we will be enforcing the Late Entry rule – please have your entries & payment post marked no later than March 1. We cannot accommodate late entries.

We look forward to another successful judging!  Mountain View District 4-H Multi Judging Committee

**Important Procedure Change**- Please note: Yes, this event is the same date as Regional Public Speaking and Communications.  Unfortunately, these dates cannot be changed in 2017.  For 2017, only, for senior members to qualify for the 4-H Alberta Multi Species Judging Competition from the Calgary Region the process will be slightly different. Scores from each of the Regional Multi Judging and 4-H on Parade will be converted to a percentage, with ties being broken by the reasons score (standard procedure). The senior members will be invited to fill the Calgary Region quota to the 4-H Alberta Multi Species Judging Competition based on percentages. It is still in the best interest of members to attend both, if they are thinking they would like to move on to the provincial level of judging. This process is to make sure we do not limit our Senior 4-H members and force them to make a difficult choice.
